Hot Soup Cool Jazz

5th Annual Hot Soup Cool Jazz Presented by TD Bank
The 5th Annual Hot Soup, Cool Jazz is set to take place from 5-8pm on April 17th at the St. John’s Convention Centre.
For the past four years, this fundraiser has been instrumental in spotlighting the housing and support needs of youth at risk and those experiencing poverty in the St. John’s region. The funds raised through this event support the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre/Soup Kitchen, Choices for Youth, the Canadian Mental Health Association (NL Division) and Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues. In the four years we have hosted Hot Soup, Cool Jazz we have raised over $300,000 and distributed more than $270,000 directly to local charities.

Fundraiser Featuring Musical Performances From the Stars of Republic of Doyle
When: Friday November 4th, 8pm
Where: Bianca's Restaurant, Water Street
Join Republic of Doyle’s own Krystin Pellerin (Constable Leslie Bennett) and Lynda Boyd (Rose Miller) as they perform your favourite jazz standards and contemporary pieces with accompaniment by Bill Brennan.
The night will also feature an auction, wonderful food provide by Bianca’s Restaurant and the choice of the finest local beers, wines and spirits.

Library CD Donation

Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues (WJB) invites the public to the A.C Hunter Library (Located in the Arts and Culture Center, St. John’s) on Wednesday May 25th , 2011 7:00pm – 8:30pm for a celebration of music. WJB is donating the A.C. Hunter Library with over 150 Jazz, Blues and World Music CDs in an effort to extend the collection of the library’s already immense music selection while expanding the variety of music accessible to the community of St. John’s.

Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues was proud to present Tara Davidson Group at Petro-Canada Hall on March 3rd 2011. JUNO Nominated Tara Davidson was releasing her highly anticipated new album ‘View’ and embarked on her cross country tour beginning in St. John’s.

The 4th Annual Hot Soup, Cool Jazz fundraiser is set to take place on April 5th, 2011 at the St. John’s Convention Centre. The purpose of Hot Soup is to spotlight the housing and support needs of youth at risk and those experiencing poverty in the St. John’s region. Proceeds raised from this community fundraising event are in support of Choices for Youth, Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre/Soup Kitchen, the Newfoundland division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues.
Wayne Bartlett and Angela Antle will play host to a gourmet soup tasting competition with soups provided by many of the fabulous Chef’s and restaurants of St. John’s including: Aqua, Bianca’s, Basho, The Gypsy Tea Room, Hungry Heart Café, Portobellos, Raymonds and the Yellowbelly Brewery as well as Choices for Youth and the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Soup Kitchen. The festivities also include live jazz music and both a silent and live auction featuring an original piece by Christopher Pratt.

Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues is joining forces with Choices for Youth, the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Soup Kitchen, the NL division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and Vibrant Communities to host the 3rd Annual Hot Soup, Cool Jazz – a fundraising event to raise awareness of the housing and support needs of youth at risk and the impoverished of our community. Angela Antle and Karl Wells will play host to a gourmet soup tasting competition with soups provided by many of the fabulous Chef’s and restaurants of St. John’s including 7…A Restaurant, Basho, Bianca’s, Bistro Sophia, Casbah, Gypsy Tea Room, Oliver’s, Portobello’s, Raymond’s, Yellowbelly Brewery & Public House, as well as submissions by the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Soup Kitchen and Choices for Youth. As an added treat, local celebrities will be stylishly serving up the soups with each of the soup competitors! The festivities also include an exquisite bar of fine wines, both a silent and live auction and an exciting jazz concert by the Mary Barry Sextet to end out the evening.
